Irish Wolfhounds Announce Roster for Second Game

The Irish Wolfhounds Baseball Club has announced the roster for the team’s second game. The game will take place on July 15, 2023 at Staten Island University Hospital Community Park, home of the Staten Island Ferry Hawks. The Wolfhounds will be taking on the New York State Court Officer Blue Sox. First pitch is scheduled for 6pm.

The Wolfhounds coaching staff is led by Vin Malzahn. Malzahn will be leading a coaching staff that includes two former major leaguers — former Yankees outfielder Shane Spencer and former Rays reliever Rob Delaney.  Former St. John’s pitcher James Lally and former Princeton southpaw Keelan Smithers will round out the coaching staff.

The team’s roster is led by former big leaguer Ryan O’Rourke. O’Rourke was the 13th round selection of the Minnesota Twins in the 2010 MLB Draft. He pitched for parts of three seasons for the Twins and Mets, appearing in 56 games. O’Rourke will be joined by a team of Irish citizens who are current and former college and professional baseball players. Each player is eligible to play for Team Ireland in the World Baseball Classic.
